Kimberly Dusza, DVM with DogA Buffalo native, Dr. Kimberly Dusza, our Chief of Staff, was born and raised in the Cheektowaga-Depew area of Western New York and wanted to be a veterinarian since she was 5 years old. After graduating from Villa Maria Academy in 1984, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Ithaca College in 1988. She then elected to pursue studies in large animal medicine and husbandry and received a Master of Science degree from Clemson University in Animal Breeding and Genetics in 1990. She then completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the University of Georgia in 1994, where she developed a passion for small animal and exotic medicine and surgery.

Upon graduating, she returned to Buffalo and worked as an associate small animal veterinarian for four years. She continued to have a keen interest in horses and enjoyed training in dressage and jumping. As an equine advocate she discovered the benefits of acupuncture and chiropractic for the health and wellness of competition horses, and decided to pursue additional education in the areas of veterinary acupuncture, chiropractic, and herbal medicine.

As she pursued her studies, she continued to work as a small animal veterinarian by starting a veterinary relief business, and practiced medicine and surgery in 32 animal hospitals in New York, North Carolina, and Florida for 12 years. During this time, she also started a holistic house-call practice and delivered acupuncture and chiropractic services to the homes of hundreds of pets throughout Western New York. As her experience in Western and Eastern medicine grew, Dr. Dusza decided to combine both conventional and holistic veterinary medicine for pets in Buffalo, and has been a part of Lancaster Small Animal Hospital since December 2010.

Outside of the veterinary profession, Dr. Dusza is an avid gardener and enjoys sailing, camping, hiking, biking, meditating, yoga, and going to the beach! She lives in North Buffalo with her husband Paul and their six cats: Sophia, Emme-Lou, Crazy Otis, Joey, Geri and Patrick.
